Council provide a progress report and clarify its role in relation to ongoing noxious weeds issue on the Old Magee Barracks site

My second  motion at this months; “That the council provide a progress report and clarify its role in relation to ongoing noxious weeds issue on the Old Magee Barracks site which is continuing to infringe on residential property in the area causing harm to residents and their property.

Report issued By: Mr L Dunne, Senior Executive Officer, Water Services and Environment : This is not an issue for the Environment Department. Under the Noxious Weeds Act, 1936, it is an offence for the owner/occupier of lands not to prevent the growth and spread of noxious weeds. The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is the agency responsible for the enforcement of the Act. Persons wishing to report a location at which Noxious Weeds are present, can do so by completing a report form and submit to the Department of Agriculture, Food And the Marine via the following email address: noxiousweedsreport@agriculture.gov.ie

Report issued By: Ms B Loughlin, Heritage Officer : The control of Invasive Species on private land is a matter for the owner and not Kildare County Council.
