Council work with the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board on a project to identify skill sets and training requirements in Kildare

At this months Council meeting I asked ‘ That the council work with the Kildare Wicklow Education and Training Board on a project to identify skill sets and training requirements in Kildare, with an emphasis on areas of little interest currently to the IDA and Foreign Direct Investment. The majority of Foreign Direct Investment interest is directed to the north of the county.  The ETBI is ideally positioned to help close the gap between disadvantaged regions and the regions that are inherently more attractive to Foreign Direct Investment.

Here is the report issued by Ms. M. Foley, Local Enterprise Office (LEO). The remit of the Local Enterprise Office is to provide support and services to start, grown and develop micro and small business in the county. The range of services provided include business information and advisory services including training, entrepreneurship support services, financial support services and local enterprise development services. The LEO avails of the skills and expertise of local business people, entrepreneurs, and a wide range of agencies to meet its remit. Its training programme is developed in consultation with these agencies and businesses and is tailored to meet a wide range of needs. The LEO can consult with the ETBI.
